Chin up
I woke up at 4:30AM this morning, not all that early considering my alarm was going to go off at 5:00 anyway. No worries, it gives me more time to sit at my desk and enjoy my coffee in peace.
It seems like everyone in my life is going through something these days. But honestly, aren’t we all? The way of the world or something like that. I have my own shit that I’m dealing with which, fortunately, is seeming a little less heavy these days, but the stress that carrying it around causes varies with the day. We had family in town last weekend which was fun but also stressful and my partner has also not been feeling the best. There are times that it seems like the weight of the world will crush everything around us.
While the previously mentioned family was in town over the weekend, we had a little outing to our local bookstore. By rights, this bookstore should not have been a success. They opened during the pandemic, are a local business that specializes in books which everyone always says they want but no one ever shops at or makes actual purchases from. Against the odds, they have not only survived, but they are thriving, so much so that they are expanding into the building next door. They have book clubs of every flavor and have really become an integral part of the community which I absolutely love.
Like a lot of stores like that, they sell things other than books, and that includes an absolutely boatload of different funny stickers. I have kind of gotten into stickers lately, the only problem being is I have nowhere to really stick them. Both of my water bottles are completely covered in stickers, as is my locker at work. But that doesn’t stop me.
While I was browsing the stickers this weekend, I found one that I knew I had to get. I even ended up sticking it to my desk to serve as a reminder to me that things are not as serious as I like to think they are. I’m not sure how much it’s helping, but every time I see it, a get a small smile and have to stifle a laugh, so I guess that counts for something
Hopefully this brought a smile to your face as well, and reminds you not to take everything so seriously. My mileage varies, but it’s a step in the right direction.
